Day 14 - Friday 24th Jun

Weather - good Dublin weather. Cool, some rain. Low 20's.

U2 were playing their first of 3 sold out shows (80,000 screaming fans a piece) at Croke Park, so it was good we were headed off around Ireland for the weekend to avoid the 'tourists' (he he). But first, some coffee, then a bit more sightseeing across the north side of the Liffey, down O'Connell St and up Henry St (also where Nai used to live and work) and finally to J Jameson and Son's.

The tour of what was until recently the Jameson's distillery was almost as good as the Guinness one, and Cory was chosen to be a 'whiskey taster' where he got to try 4 of Ireland's finest, up against Scotch (Johnny Walker Red) and Bourbon (Jim Beam). Of course, the latter two were defeated without compare. Cory almost was too - after going to the Porterhouse for lunch and downing the BEST porter ever - Plain Porter from the Porterhouse themselves. VERY nice.

Then it was off to the airport, pick up the new Renault Clio and off to the other side of the country, to Galway. It took 4 hours, for about a 220km trip. Plenty of traffic, and plenty of roadworks. Galway seems nice, after a quick walk to see the sea and the seaside malls (not cheesy - very authentic). Then an early night to hit the sights and then road again tomorrow.
