Day 8 - Saturday 18th June

Weather - warm, high 20's

After a very short sleep we were up and heading off again. We got a train from DC to New York and went through Baltimore, Philadelphia and New Jersey. It was quite a nice train trip. On arrival in New York we found that there was nowhere to leave our bags so we spent the afternoon walking around with our big backpacks - thankfully we had sent some stuff back from the US already so our bags weren't too heavy. It was also quite astounding to see that NYers aren't as quick as we thought - as with our heavy loads we were still walking faster than most (although many were American tourists - they stick out worse than we did!)

We grabbed some lunch and went in search of some crappy souveniers - once that mission had been accomplished we found a bewery bar and decided to sit and people watch. Thankfully though it was nowhere near as hot and humid as it had been when we arrived in New York earlier in the week. We ordered a tasting tray of all the beers and shared that between us - we got 8 tastings for $12.50 which was pretty good. (An interesting summer brew - an 'Apricot Ale' - just like it sounds). Just as we were settling in we looked at the TV and noticed that they were screening some AFL. That kept us amused for a while.

We caught the subway out to the airport and caught our flight which was an overnighter to London. We left at 6.50pm to arrive at 6.50am London time the next day - however the total flying time is only 6 hours so we stood to lose valuable sleep time!
