Day 3 - Monday 13th

Clear and Hot - about 30 degrees. We got up at 7.30am and took the
bus down to Soho for breakfast. Had the obligatory bagel with cream
cheese and coffee. We spent the morning wandering around shopping in
Soho,
then walking thru
Greenwich Village, Little Italy and Chinatown. It was very hot so we
jumped on the bus back up through the East Village and dropped all
of our purchases back at the YMCA. We then wandered through Central
Park and down to the Museum of Modern Art. We saw some fabulous
works of art and even though the entry fee wasn't cheap it was well
worth the money.

Then we went to have a look at the Rockefeller Centre and picked up
some dinner as we were heading to Bryant Park behind the Public
Library on 42nd St. We had planned to go and see a Broadway show (would

love to have seen Spamalot but wouldn't you know that it's the hottest
ticket in town, with a fistful of Tony's from the recent awards)
but we found out that there was a free concert in the Park with all
the current Broadway stars singing some of the standard show tunes
called Broadway Under Stars. It was still 30 degrees at 8pm and
there were 15,000 New Yorkers crammed into a very small park with no
room to move. A lot of people were getting very tetchy with the
heat and the crowds so we got to see some of the famous New York
attitude! Apart from that we didn't really have any issues with
accents or attitude in New York and we thoroughly loved it!!
